My Old Kentucky Blog: Brothers And Sisters

Like these kids. Happy sounds are in beachside.

Worried that were eating up all the winter endorphins here in the summertime.

But, hey, Newsweek says all the 'Big CDs' of the year are coming out in the 4th quarter!

My Old Kentucky Blog: Brothers And Sisters: "Big bands are all the rage these days it seems. How many members can you fit on one stage to create as much sound and as many layers as possible? I don't know, the more the merrier if you ask me. I'm all for it.

Brothers And Sisters : Self-TitledAs their band's namesake emplies, this eight member crew is led by real-life brother and sister Will and Lily Courtney. They're Austin, Texas based and while their sound comes out sunny and positive with loads of pretty boy & girl harmonies, the lyrics aren't always in the same vein. Brother Will sees no problem with this and about it says, 'I don't set out to have that contrast in my songs, but it does happen a lot. The truth is, life, for the most part, is filled with hardships, heartache and disappointment. But for me, I really never lose hope that the good stuff is just around the corner.'

Even though Will and Lily are the only true pair of siblings in the band, each member goes by the title of Brother or Sister. This reflects Will and Lily's upbringing and belief that we are all brothers and sisters in this world. Maybe this belief, in part, set this bands influence, sound and direction to harken back to a time of peace and brotherhood. Brother Will further describes Brothers And Sister's sound in terms of 70's cult movies Five Easy Pieces, Being There and Harold And Maude, 'All those movies have this sense of longing for the past, but are aware that the present, however painful or joyful, is only here for a moment and you really have no choice but to embrace it.'
