Daily EP, track 03

Hey, ya might've heard of this next band. They're called OutKast, and they're releasing a movie+soundtrack called Idlewild. Haven't paid attention to the trailers other than it seems like a speakeasy era noir/musical.

A Harlem Nights without neutered Eddie Murphy.

First track leaked, 'The Mighty O' didn't do much for me. Add in the lengthy delays for the movie and album, as well as Andre 3000's apathy towards hip-hop and embrace of off-key singing, and my expectations plummeted.

So, of course, 'The Train' is fantastic. Dre raps but leaves the singing to others. Love the production and the little bits of texture (Pweh! single handclaps, etc.), Big Boi's horn obsessions and the underdone railway beats).

Great. Just great.

Palms Out Sounds: And I'm a Staaaar...: "it seems like the more and more Dre sings, the more poignant his once in a blue rhymes become. A couple tracks off of Idlewild people, enjoy.
